The Chesapeake & Delaware Canal Bridge

Since I got my first SLR, this was the first subject I had in mind. With this particular structure, traffic and weather are key to getting the right shot, in fact, if there's a fog passing through, this bridge becomes a beacon in the night sky. I cross this bridge every time I visit my parents in Smyrna and this particular weekend, I made sure I had the camera ready.

Without even realizing it, I managed to catch the foggy bridge and the depot below, each having it's own light effect. Perhaps not much to the average eye, but I thought it was a cool shot. I have a new found respect for photographers who shoot the obscure at their own risk. Both of these night photos were taken either very late at night, or very early in the morning, on the side of the road with drivers wondering what I was up to.

On my way home from work I found a horse that wanted to pose for my camera. I couldn't refuse.

Swiss Pines - Japanese Garden

The following are photos taken from the Swiss Pines Japanese (Zen) Garden in Charlestown, PA. I caught some flack taking these but I think it's worth showing how great an effort the care takers spend maintaining this terrific garden.

While they receive no funding to keep this garden looking great, I encourage anyone to visit and help keeping this public place what it is. Summer's end in Philly

Here's my pic of the week taken just last week as I was roaming the vicinity of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and surrounding sites with my SLR handy. While a fish-eye lens would have been great, I still managed to catch the fountain, city hall, surrounding buildings, and some folks enjoying one the remaining days of summer.

Peace in Paris

While many friends have seen this image on my desktop or on Facebook, it's one I'm proud of, even though it was taken pre-SLR. I call it Peace in Paris. Etched in glass is the word "peace" repeated in different languages. The Parisians have a unique perspective on culture and what's going on in the world, and have very artistic ways of expressing that perspective. I just happened to be walking by and saw a "kodak" moment if you will. The next thing I'll do with this photo is blow it up on poster-sized canvas. Enjoy.

While back home in Jamaica, I enjoyed the view from our Ocho Rios hotel so much that I had to capture day dreaming as I gazed out onto the Caribbean Sea.

Naturally I had to have a little fun in Photoshop with these.
